Double Decanted Educators

Chan Peterson

Chan Peterson is the principal and founder of The World of Fine Wining, a San Antonio based wine consultancy.  He focuses on working with collectors to curate their cellars, conducting private and group tastings, and teaching the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) curriculum as an instructor for the Napa Valley Wine Academy.

Chan holds a WSET Advanced Certificate with Merit, is an accredited WSET Educator and has attained the Fine Vintage First Level Sommelier designation.   Believing that first-hand experience is an important complement to study, he has pursued wine immersion trips with Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine in Spain, France and Italy.  As well, he has toured wine regions in Chile, Argentina, Portugal, South Africa and Baja California and travels frequently to the California and Oregon wine regions.

Kelly Prohl, Double Decanted’s owner, believes wine should be fun and make you happy. She loves wine and sharing her extensive knowledge of it with novices and aficionados alike.

In 2008, Kelly left her job in the corporate world to pursue her passion for wine, and along the way she’s accumulated some serious wine credentials. She holds a Diploma in Wine with Merit (DipWSET) from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. She’s also a Level I Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers),  Level II Sommelier (International Sommelier Guild),  French Wine Scholar (French Wine Society), an Italian Wine Specialist with Distinction (North American Sommelier Association), and a Certified Specialist of Wine, CSW, (Society of Wine Educators).

Kelly currently enjoys selecting wines and planning events, teaching classes, and judging wine contests, including the Houston Livestock and Rodeo International Wine Competition. Above all, she enjoys working with Double Decanted clients to find wines they’ll love.
